Changing Cases is an international organization dedicated to the eradication of homelessness and sexual exploitation through educating and empowering the general public on human trafficking. Founded in 2015 by licensed New York Attorney and Tedx Speaker Juanita Headley, this grassroots organization has held feeding programs for indigent communities in the Philippines, India and the US, and Christmas toiletry donations for men in prisons in St. Vincent and Ghana.
Juanita Headley is an internationally recognized anti-human trafficking Tedx speaker, author, and licensed New York attorney. As a humanitarian volunteer, she has a wealth of experience gained from living amongst and serving the formerly incarcerated and indigent communities. Through the art of storytelling, Juanita simplistically explains child abuse and commercial exploitation in an engaging and informative way, leaving audiences educated, empowered, and inspired.
Described as “a champion for human decency” by Hollywood actor David Arquette, Juanita has singlehandedly held global screenings of SOLD The Movie, worked with top professionals, and appeared as a lead human rights speaker at a number of prestigious events and programs. Audiences have included those in higher education; law enforcement; hospitals; public service clubs; the army; social workers; teachers; parents; Cebu’s Mayor; Filipino Barangay officials and employees at the Office of the Prime Minister Tobago.
Miss Headley has been a guest speaker on Ghanaian, Trinidadian, Tobagonian, and Vincentian television networks and been featured in Vincentian and Trinidadian newspapers, including The Guardian; The Mirror; and Newsday. She has also made numerous media appearances on Ghanaian, Vincentian, New York and Trinidadian radio programs.
In 2019 she was named the Global Goodwill Ambassador for humanitarian work by the Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation, and is a recipient of the Gem FM Appreciation Award – The Lydia Calliste Award of Excellence in Community Service in 2021
Projects are based primarily in the Philippines and India, but many of the educational initiatives are focused in New York, Washington DC, Trinidad, Tobago, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Ghana and London, England.
Between 2012 and 2016 Miss Headley has been spending periods of 6 months volunteering unpaid in the United States serving in the indigent community in matters of crime, immigration, family, employment, and housing law. She also volunteered with ECPAT-USA on an anti child pornography project.
Miss Headley has used Facebook to create gender specific anti trafficking groups and an education and empowerment group. The latter of which was designed to inspire the exploited men and women in the Red Light District that an ordinary life such as theirs can accomplish great things. It therefore acts as a platform for skills training, job postings, conversations and video diaries.
Aside from Miss Headley’s work in the Red Light District, she is also working on a number of other projects; including hosting multiple global screenings of SOLD; and continues to serve the indigent community throughout Asia.
